I gathered data from Statistics Canada (StatCan) on the number of pelts/species/province/year and created a motion plot with the the R package "googleVis". The pelt data from StatCan runs from 1970 to 2011. Unfortunately there will not be any new data from 2011 onward, since it seems StatCan has stopped collecting this data. I merged data from the USA gathered from the US Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies. Unfortunately, I had to merge Nunavut and NWT Data. Feel free to play around with the motion plot. There are many interesting trends to be found. I also added in area (m^2) and the x and y (m) location of the centroid of each state/province/territory. The projection is North America Lambert Conformal Conic. I think you might need a Google account to visualize these charts!
